CONDUCT PRISONERS (TEMPORARY RELEASE) ACT, 1968
Convicted prisoners undergoing sentence in jails are released temporarily on
parole/furlough for a period not more than 84 days in a year to enable them to carry out
repairs to their houses, carry out agricultural operations on their lands, to attend
marriages of their children under the H.P. Good Conduct Prisoners’ (Temporary Release)
Act, 1968. During theyear April 2020- April 2021, 481 prisoners were released on
parole/furlough.
PREMATURE RELEASE/MERCY CASES CONSIDERED AND ACCEPTED:
During the year 2020-21, 71 premature/mercy release case of convicts
were placed before the Sentence Review Board and 48 out of which were accepted
by Sentence Review Board and 04 were sent back for reconsideration.19 cases of
convicts for premature/mercy were rejected by the Sentence Review Board during
the year 2020-21.
